whichever app wants to take over the twitter space, first of all diamondApp is missing a LOT of key features. and you've got to cover those first. but after that, or in parallel, come up with multiple ways for users to connect with either users, communities, audiences, other game players (like a trivia game community, or an Alice in Wonderland metaverse), and whatever other terms make sense since it can help create alternative methods. 1. Users - filters for shared interests, self-given personality, character, and visual/physical traits. - match users with similarly engaged users when done generally in terms of basic demographics - match users to people of higher/lower engagement when there are shared interests; if one user tends to leave more comments, try to match them with users who have posted about a shared interest. - without much data, of course it won't be super easy, but try to balance the posters with the commenters. - make sure to distinguish between people who comment a lot in their own threads vs people who comment across other peoples' threads - people who post a lot might reply to commenters of their own posts and engage heavily, but within their little bubble, so there's no need to match these people with each other immediately - but still include a few similar types always; it can always just be that that person hasn't found the right content (so there should just be a kind of "find me a new person to follow" button with some filters, let a person immediately try to find a new buddy) - also should be able to create custom lists and put users into those lists, regardless of if you are "following" them or not. create your own custom communities on your end. maybe you like to check up on some people's posts on tuesday, so you make a group for each day of the week and put users amongst them. (having actual programmable triggers would be super cool but i'm not stretching that far here, this is just baby stuff) users have no knowledge of their placement in these groups. groups also control muting/hiding/etc. also, site should keep tabs on people you engaged with in the past. someone you commented on many times hadn't been around lately but just came back? the site should have a mechanism for alerting you of this and explaining the likely cause for the distubance in engagement (just that they hadn't posted). you can dismiss a suggestion and let the site know you're just no longer interested (forever | remind me in a month | etc). so these are just users, 1-on-1. communities would be ways of immediately following a large group of people. or, better put, you join a community, the community in turn is following all of these people. communities would help defined traits given by the founder(s), but as people join and make posts, the content itself and those users weigh more on how the community is compared to a user. - maybe you love cats but you're deathly afraid of dogs, so you mark dogs specifically as a dislike (nothing wrong with disliking a type of content, how else can we get you to the content you might prefer - but it's the content, not the creator, that matters most; you block the creator if needed). there's an animal community, it can say 70% of posts are cat-related but the rest are all dogs, are you still interested? you can join and still have the dog content hidden, but would want to take into account how this affects your actual belonging to the community. if you're the only person who only posts cats, hey, maybe you found a little niche in that community. or maybe they'll chase you out. the choice is yours, and yours alone. anyway, now you can easily get to CONTENT. if you're a creator, this is a great way to find an audience and you'd probably be more concerned above that scenario above where you may not be a perfect match. but audience? come on in, butts in seats is the best. communities lacking users that post would be able to be specifically called out to people looking for places to create content- maybe someone has tried other things and needs that kind of suggestion and wants to give it a shot, perfect! multiple communities covering the same topic? hopefully there would be some kind of stylistic difference. ideally the site will be smart enough to advise against it at first, and i'm all for a little bit of moderation when it comes to user-created content. make sure there is a legit reason to have 2 "Little House on the Prairie" communities. one is aimed towards the nsfw content and one is, well, everything else. easy for people to just enter and leave communities, no messing around with followers or lists. but it all works together. anyway running out of space but again there should be very well thought out ways of trying to match people to communities, though it actually can be less discerning. since the goal isn't to have duplicate communities, it's not like you can force someone to become an avid ventriloquist overnight.
