Commodities are inputs into products. Commodity prices reflect both demand and economic activity. GTX, The S&P Goldman Sachs commodity index, tracks prices for 24 different commodities in five sectors: energy, industrial metals, agricultural products, livestock products & precious metals. From mid 2014 we saw commodity prices drop; this is not indicative of balanced economic activity. From its pandemic low, GTX has rebounded 88%, but recently commodity prices seem to have peaked and fallen. US Q2 GDP failed to meet, let alone exceed, forecasts.
