Agree 💯 It’s the question for the ages: should you choose to do the difficult right or the easy wrong? While the answer may seem obvious, this can be a difficult decision to make when you are under duress, subjected to blackmail or discriminated upon. Just think of all the oppressed people, those who are vilified because of the color of their skin, their race (proud Asian here!), their nationality, their gender (proud woman here!) and so on. None of that can be changed! The first instinct is to do right by others, but life is unfair - the world is just too full of idiots and jerks. So you stand up for yourself. Then what happens? The guy you inadvertently shamed has powerful friends and the wherewithal he will then use against you to exact revenge. This happens all the time especially in politics and in workplaces. Does it excuse us from choosing to do the difficult right anyway? Maybe not, but tell that to a whistleblower whose family’s safety is threatened because he or she chose to speak truth to power. Black and white is clear in a game of chess but not in the game of life.
