This past week I hit my 6 month mark at the DeSo Foundation! When I first talked to Nader back in October of last year I had originally approached him about launching my own project on DeSo. After some follow-up conversations, Nader ultimately convinced me to come on to the DeSo Foundation, and set the groundwork for the Octane Fund. Over the next few months, my scope quickly expanded, as I realized I had a lot more ability on the operations front than I realized I was capable of. We launched our first cohort of the Octane Fund to 16 venture teams and 20+ development grants. We rebuilt our entire GTM engine from scratch including social media handles, our blog, paid ads, new hires, and more. We landed key partnerships, including becoming the official Web3 sponsor for Major League Hacking. And most importantly, we have strengthened our community with on-chain talks, our own Discord, and even IRL events across the country. With the DeSo Foundation’s foundations (like that word play?) now in a strong spot, I began having conversations with Nader about my longer term goals. My heart is ultimately still on the consumer product side, speaking to end users & creators, and building products that deliver value to those groups. I also desire to be on a founding team myself, and I feel I now have the experience I need to make that jump. That is why the time feels right for me to transition my focus onto launching my next project, which is an idea I’ve had for a DeSo app for some time. In order to actually execute on this project, I need to step away from core operations at DeSo and begin diving deep into my launch strategy. As of today, I will officially be transitioning into the role of a Strategic Advisor for DeSo. I will be helping ensure a smooth transition internally and plugging into the ecosystem in high impact areas. However, my primary focus moving forward will be on pursuing a “killer app”, and I look forward to getting feedback from the community as I start the next phase of this journey with my DeSo Fam. ❤️
