And it's highly asymmetric/antifragile because investing in a protocol like ETH or DeSo is an index play. All it takes is for one app to succeed on a protocol for an unstoppable snowball to start rolling. This is because users/wallets/content is shared across apps.

hey @nader what if that killer app decides to use their own encryption on all data they push to the chain, meaning no other node can use their data? effectively killing competition. i'm just curious, i'm not saying this should make the most sense for anyone to do. but if a new killer app sees new competition coming, that is benefitting from data they're pushing out, wouldn't it make sense to do this to cut those other nodes off from their data? @nader @AlexValaitis

other questions that i have and don't want to forget - what happens if 20+ nodes each did this with their own encryption methods? would the b-chain grind to a halt? also what prevents a node from pushing out spam advertising their node/something else? serious question. i know it "costs" to write to the chain, and they recoup some of that immediately from fees. but it's cheap advertising right? is the originating node flagged on content so another node can exclude all data from them?

On the first question, assuming they are profit driven, if the devs hold DeSo it becomes a question of: Will sharing the data generated on our node with other nodes increase our profit from the increase in DeSo's price more than encrypting it and not sharing? Ideally each project would be invested in DeSo and their own coin and their competition's coin so that any gains made by either benefits all. As to your second question, I think decentralized sharable user controlled opt-in black and white lists will be required as DeSo grows. I'm not an expert, but those are my thoughts... 🕉️☀️💜🙏

i find it hard to believe that if someone builds a killer app, that they're only going to be monetizing in terms of DeSo. maybe at first, but if we're meaning "killer app" as a broad-use application becoming a household name - they can use the blockchain for the marketing benefits of being able to claim x, y, and z - and yes, no matter what, they're in some way still "helping deso" due to transactions, but if all data is encrypted, they could clog the blockchain and become the sole benefactors, data-wise. holders of deso still benefit, i think, though.

There are so many ways to monetize an app, especially with the options on DeSo so far, but as long as the killer app requires users to buy and spend DeSo then the value of DeSo should rise. I think developers are likely to use the native NFT functionality of DeSo in ways that never mention to the user that they are interacting with an NFT. I see this as probably superior to transactions fees and selling Creator Coins (especially since selling your own owned coins is taboo). Welcome to the New Year and a New You, btw!
