You’re so well known and respected here that I think— what if instead of starting your thread “DESO was finally listed on CB but, failed to attract new users.” You had said “In the 2 weeks post CB listing, daily new users almost 2x’d (78%). It’s technically a positive trend, but not nearly where it should be. Are there any new users out there that first found deso on coinbase? How did you find this platform? Anyone have any ideas as to how we can show the people who have deso on CB the benefits of coming on platform?”

i don't know the best way to do these discussions per point, i feel like it might be easier to branch each topic off into our own quote reposts - as nice as the comment update was and then the multipost, i still don't find it that conducive to posts with so many paths. anyway - on the point which i think we'll boil down to "completely failed to attract new users" (that's how @paulburke worded the point itself), i think anyone who reads either post can understand where the difference is RE: coinbase. paul meant a long-term trend, ...click it's MULTIPOST>

but you looked at a short-term trend. i think trend can technically refer to both one the short and long-term versions. i feel that you might have specifically started out your post with the purpose of providing counterarguments to each point. maybe it wasn't the specific goal, i don't mean that you "reached" to fit that - well, i don't mean you purposefully did. :) cause i think on this one it's a reach to say that paul was incorrect. i don't think anyone on the platform right now feels like coinbase did anything positive for the daily users. >>>>>>>>

i mean, coinbase also spiked the price of DESO, but i wouldn't say that there was a positive trend in terms of the DESO price as a result of coinbase. however, the price DID go up immediately after. i feel like what i just said is enough to kinda back up the way paul was wording his. but i don't think what @ASG said here was wrong or invalid either. THOUGH, i do want to say this- if anyone said today--- DID YOU KNOW? In the 2 weeks post-Coinbase listing, our daily new users almost 2x’d (78%)! ---i would immediately roll my eyes cuz while true>>>>>

this would be a very kinda disingenuous way of trying to spin the outcome of the coinbase listing. this doesn't mean the coinbase listing should not have happened, or that it was some beginning of an end, i don't think that at all. i think this had to happen, better to rip the bandaid off now (easy for me to say, not having bought any DESO, ofc), and people who don't know DESO def reacted strongly and negatively to how that all played out and we're still feeling those effects now. to some people the quick downturn post-CB played into a narrative they>>

already had about BitClout being a scam/etc., and so the moment that happened, they didn't feel they needed to do one more bit of research. so, it's growing pains. but you know, saying that post-CB had a positive impact on any DAU trend would be super hokey. but like i just did, you can also rationally explain what happened and how it may not actually be this glaring negative thing. anyway sorry this was long, i have to go through all the rest of the points. just to note after pb's original post, i noted in my comment that there was no conclusion>>>>

drawn by paul. he just presented these items (i'm not going to say facts, i don't think he said anything factually incorrect- though i think that some items may be based on things people said, and for things like that, it doesn't matter if nader says the sky is red in discord, that doesn't make it the truth). i noted in my comment that i didn't think that, even if these things are 100% factual, that it means anything for the platform. they're things to learn from perhaps? when you think something is FUD, and you know it's not, then you can turn that>>

post into a positive. because if you know it wasn't the truth, or let's just say- you know that regardless of its veracity, the team and the platform are still going to be kicking ass, then there's no reason to make a sad reply or like even express any worry. talk about how these things will lead to something even better. think outside the block~ damn this got even longer i guess LOL @paulburke @ASG i am not sure how notifications work with this thing, apologies if it like notifies a ton (plz let me know tho)

We have to be careful not to conflate new users with DAU. Two different metrics. Since he said “new users” I went with the “new creator accounts” graph, though the “daily active accounts” showed similar results. On short vs long term— looking at dec13- today there has been an increase in both DAU and new users, though it is marginal. Re: being disingenuous. Paul’s post tagged me and was insisting on fact checking/ proving it wrong. If you look at my next comment. I said that even though “no new users” is *technically* wrong, I actually agree with him on the sentiment. I was agreeing with him!

yeah no--- i wasn't saying anything you said was disingenuous in your post! but, if you made a standalone post where you specifically just said "hey if you guys didn't know, post-coinbase we almost 2x'd our [ users / dau / new users / whichever stat, really doesn't matter lol ]!" i would still roll my eyes and wonder what the point was :D cause today, right now, we all know that there was no positive ---past a week or two, to be totally factually correct i guess-- trend from the coinbase listing in terms of meaningful user stats.

however @ASG i also think a standalone negative post about that would probably be worse. i mean, there are other criticisms/points that might be OK for a single post. but this one, eh. why. i think paul just was putting all of these items together because- in his mind for sure- they come together paint another picture. i may be putting my own thoughts onto his post now and i can't reference it easily- some things i think he based on something someone said, which to me doesn't make it a fact. BUT to me, it points out why more communication = good

Since he said “new users” I went with the “new creator accounts” graph, though the “daily active accounts” showed similar results. On short vs long term— looking at dec13- today there has been an increase in both DAU and new users, though it is marginal. \n\nRe: being disingenuous.
